The speakers will address the impact of mobile money, resource extraction, and other transformative factors on economic practices in urban and rural areas of the global south.

United Nations Global Compact United Business Live virtual conference, marking the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Sept. 21-23, 2020. The Human Economies group prepared a video that was included in the event, Roundtable on Human Economies, showcasing our perspective on human economies as an approach to more sustainable development for dissemination in this virtual conference. Attendees were decision-makers from business, government and civil society focused on solutions-oriented research and practice.

Agents of Change: Futures of Hope, Futures of Concern

We participated in a symposium held at ASU and hosted by the Global Future Laboratory. Agents of Change: Futures of Hope, Futures of Concern brought together scientists and scholars to discuss ways in which thinking about human agency is central to addressing environmental and other challenges that lie ahead. We featured a panel on the Informal Economy, addressing the issue of human economic activity in shaping global futures.
